- ALSTI is a simple
index with each market participant
represented
once by a single share.
- ALSTI V2.0 is being
developed as a modified market
value-weighted
index, with company weights based on their market capitalizations.
The number of components will be limited to those
who
shares are publically traded in the U.S., meeting certain market
requirement.
- While the
focus of
the ALSTI is on basic life science research product providers,
the
breadth of many of the product portfolios of ALSTI components is beyond
life sciences
research, with clinical diagnostics, medical supplies, environmental
testing, and other industrial applications supported.
The goal of the ALSTI is to highlight a select, and as yet
not
clearly followed industry. Information on current and project
growth rates, profitability, available cash balances, and other metrics
is provided to identify targets for acquisition and those product lines
that could be integrated to support growth objectives.
The
APPAN Life Science Technologies Index (ALSTI) has
been established
to
highlight
the opportunities for growth the life science industry has to
offer investors (ALSTI components are companies whose shares
are
publicly
traded).
